Shooting sends 2 to hospital

A Friday night shooting in the area of Mud Bay Park in Surrey sent two people to hospital, RCMP have confirmed.

Shortly after 7 p.m. officers attended the park and found evidence of shots fired. They then responded to a call from the nearby 17300 block of 56 Avenue for a subject suffering from a gun shot wound.

At 7:20 p.m., another man walked into Langley Memorial Hospital with a gun shot wound, and officers found it was related to the Mud Bay Park incident.

Surrey Serious Crime Unit has taken over the investigation, which is in its early stages. They say it is too early to say whether these events are linked to any others in the Lower Mainland.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or a vehicle fleeing from the area or may have dash cam footage in the area of Colebrook Road and King George Boulevard between 6:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Friday is asked to contact the RCMP.

Surrey RCMP can be reached at 604-599-0502. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 with reference to police file number 2019-108575.
