What's your election issue?

Chelsea Powrie

With just over three months until Canada's federal election in October, Okanagan candidates are starting to ramp up their campaigns.

Castanet hit the streets for an early look at the election issues that matter most to Okanagan voters.

Responses were wide ranging, with broad topics like the economy and climate change coming up most often.

"I am worried about the inflation that's going on with cost of living," said one woman.

"The pipeline is a pretty big one, obviously you don't want to vote for someone who is going to destroy the environment or advocates for that, so I would vote against that obviously," another woman said.

A few senior citizens brought up healthcare as an issue on top of their minds.

"And more benefits for us seniors!" one man added.

Another man mentioned the housing crisis that is currently prolific in the Okanagan and beyond.

"That's the number one issue," he said.

Still, others hadn't put any thought into the election at all yet.
