Delta police have surrounded a home in Tsawwassen.

DPD spokesperson Cris Leykauf said the incident started overnight Thursday on Tralee Crescent.

“The individual in question refused to exit the residence, and a Delta Police negotiator was called in to assist in this process,” said Leykauf. “Negotiations continued overnight, but unfortunately were not successful. A warrant was then obtained, and the individual is refusing to comply with police demands.”

Leykauf said the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team is on site, and the individual remains barricaded in the home.

“There has been a lot of speculation on social media that residents may have heard shots fired, but that is not the case,” added Leykauf. “There is a perimeter in place and we ask the public to respect instructions from police.”
