Every dog has his day.
And this transit dog that retired on the same day as his human partner in Vancouver also had his cake.
Police dog Cruiser snarfed down his pumpkin and peanut butter cake while human partner Const. Scott Hogg looked on with pride, CTV News reports.
Transit police spokeswoman Anne Drennan said it's "extremely rare" for police dogs and their handlers to retire at the same time.
"This is the first time I've actually heard of a dog and a handler retiring on the same day," Drennan said.
Today, Transit Police dog Cruiser retired at the age of 9, along with his human partner, Cst. Hogg (age redacted). Happy retirement, Cruiser and Cst. Hogg! @dog_rates #policedog pic.twitter.com/JXAZRiWKlz
