Fawn brought to liquor store

A man recently walked into an Invermere liquor store with a live fawn and then brought it home with him.

Conservation officers obtained video surveillance footage from the liquor store and were able to identify the man on June 15.

Invermere CO Greg Kruger was able to locate the man at a residence in Invermere. He was still in possession of the fawn.

Kruger took possession of the baby deer and drove to the exact location where the man reportedly found it.

“Once there, Kruger used an electronic call that mimics fawn vocalization,” said a post by the CO Service. “Almost immediately, a mature white-tailed doe ran to the location and was reunited with the fawn.”

The man was then charged for unlawful possession of live wildlife.

Anyone who finds what appears to be wildlife left on its own should leave it and contact the COS at 1-877-952-RAPP (7277).
