Who will be Miss Marijuana

There's a new beauty pageant looking to capitalize on the legalization of cannabis – and a local lady wants your help to win it.

Jewels Overby reached out to Castanet to let us know about the Miss Marijuana Beauty Pageant. "I am not quite sure if this is something you guys would be interested in doing, as it's still a little controversial to some people even though it's legal now, but I have made a decision to enter the Miss Marijuana Pageant! I know how it sounds, why would someone enter something like this?"

One possible explanation could be the $25,000 in cash and prizes that go to the winner, but Jewels also says: "I have always been a firm believer that medical marijuana/CBD is extremely helpful to people that struggle with chronic pain, insomnia, anxiety, and even life-threatening conditions such as epilepsy – specifically Dravet syndrome, which is almost impossible to control but has responded extremely well to the Charolette's web strain."

Jewels is the top vote getter in the province of B.C. so far. The winner of each province/state will go to Las Vegas for the finale, where judges will select Miss Marijuana based upon an interview question, swimwear, and evening gown competitions.

According to its website, "the Miss Marijuana Beauty Pageant is a North American competition for fun-loving, friendly, personable and confident girls with a great attitude!"

Presumably, the contestants should also enjoy cannabis. "Miss MJ gives you the opportunity to be the activist you’ve always dreamed of," the site says.

Sounds like Jewels is down with that.

"I want to win Miss Marijuana because I want to be able to educate people on all the positive effects that medical marijuana/CBD has on many people," she says.

The top three contestants  will receive sashes, luxury spa packages and a gift bag filled with cannabis lifestyle products.
