Teen hurt in fence crash

A 19-year-old man was injured after the vehicle he was driving hit a concrete barrier and then crashed through a schoolyard fence Saturday night.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP are investigating the incident after members witnessed the crash on routine patrols of the area in Vernon. 

RCMP were patrolling Fulton Road and Okanagan Avenue when they saw a vehicle driven into the concrete barrier at the bridge and then through a fence at Ellison Elementary. RCMP said the man was transported to hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries.

"The officer in this case is still investigating the collision and the events leading up to it," said Const. Kelly Brett. "There is a possibility that this young gentlemen could face criminal or motor vehicle act charges for his alleged reckless driving behaviour."

No other persons were injured as a result of the collision.
