Mother's lug nuts loosened

A Peachland mother is furious after she discovers, while driving, that her lug nuts were loosened on her car.

Odina Skovgaard says she was driving along Highway 97 with her three-year-old daughter when she heard a weird noise on Sunday.

When she took her foot off the gas she heard a 'thud, thud, thud’ noise.

“I wasn’t comfortable and wanted to go back home and check,” she said.

Her husband checked the car and almost all of the lug nuts on both of the front tires were loose.

“I am full of rage right now,” she said.

Two car seats were in the back of her car on Saturday night when they believe the culprit loosened the lug nuts. Skovgaard says the car was parked in their carport on Clarence Road.

“I am just beyond mad that someone would do that with car seats in the back,” she said.

Another Peachland resident said a vehicle on Bertram Street also had their lug nuts loosened on Saturday morning.

“The tire didn't come right off because it had one locked lug nut holding it on,” said Sheila Topham.

A rash of similar incidents occurred back in May and prompted police to ask residents to check their vehicles before driving. Crime Stoppers also put up a $2,000 reward for information in connection to this crime.

Anyone with any information can also contact the RCMP at 250-762-3300.
