Wildfire now contained

UPDATE: 1:50 p.m.

Firefighters have contained a brush fire near the Cinnamon Ridge Compost Facility on the western edge of Kamloops.

There is some concern wind could pick up, so crews are monitoring the situation closely, with 32 people on the ground from multiple agencies, including the B.C. Wildfire Service and crews from nearby Kamloops Airport.

"The fuels vary from greener dry grass to some heavy timber, and that's where our biggest struggle is right now," assistant fire chief Dan Sutherland told Kamloops Matters. "...We had some danger trees in there."

No structures are being threatened.

"As long as the conditions stay as they are right now, we do feel we have it 100 per cent contained at this time," said Sutherland.

The cause of the fire has yet to be confirmed.
