Fatality in mobile home fire

A fire that destroyed two homes at Riva Ridge mobile home park on May 29 claimed a life.

Witnesses to the early morning blaze described their neighbour, an elderly woman, screaming for help and being pulled from the burning building by fire crews.

The woman was transported to hospital at the time. She was the only occupant trapped in either home as they burned.

The BC Coroners Service confirmed Wednesday that a woman in her 70s died, and they are investigating.

"The Coroners Service's investigation will look to determine how, where, when and by what means the female came to her death," they said.
