Town taps new CAO

The Town of Osoyoos has hired a new chief administrative officer.

Allan Chabot comes to the municipality from Revelstoke, where he has held the same position since 2015.

“I’m excited to work with the mayor and council to help Osoyoos achieve its strategic goals,” he said in a news release.

A chief administrative officer, or town manager, heads up all aspects of the municipality. He will take over from retiring Barry Romanko on July 29.

Chabot was selected through a national hiring competition, according to Mayor Sue McKortoff.

“Allan’s background is an excellent fit for Osoyoos,” she said. “He understands the impacts and benefits of tourism on small communities like ours.”

Chabot was born and raised in Invermere, B.C. where he was elected to town council at the age of 23. After serving as councillor and mayor, Chabot began working in local government with stops in Prince George, Golden, Fernie and Merritt.
