Moose takes a shortcut

It’s not Ogopogo, but a boater on Okanagan Lake spotted another majestic creature out for a swim early Sunday morning.

A moose was seen swimming directly across Okanagan Lake, from Summerland towards Naramata, at about 7:30 a.m. on Father’s Day.

Moose are adept swimmers that are born with the skill. An adult moose can swim at a pace of close to 10 km/hr for two hours, according to various online sources. They often venture into the water to keep their body temperature down on hot summer days.
