Water restrictions begin

Stage 2 watering restrictions are coming back into effect in the central Okanagan.

Starting Sunday, twice weekly outdoor watering restrictions begin in the six water systems operated by the Regional District of Central Okanagan.

Those are the Star Place, Falcon Ridge, Killiney Beach, Sunset Ranch, Upper Fintry-Shalal Road-Valley of the Sun, and Westshore water systems.

Residents with even numbered addresses may water on Saturday and Tuesday, while those with odd addresses can irrigate on Sunday and Wednesday. The restrictions are expected to remain in place until Sept. 15.

“If you don’t need to water gardens and lawns on your allotted day and time period, please don’t waste water," says communications officer Bruce Smith. "By following the outdoor watering restrictions, residents will help ensure that system reservoirs are replenished and there’s an adequate water supply for everyone.”

Customers with automated sprinklers should only water between midnight and 6 a.m. on their designated day, while those with manual sprinklers must restrict watering to between 6 and 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and midnight.

The rest of the year, Stage 1 restrictions allow outdoor watering on alternating days.
