Scary incident at YLW

Potential disaster was averted at Kelowna International Airport Wednesday morning.

The incident involved a plane, on a training exercise, as it attempted to land.

"During a training exercise, a private cargo plane experienced tire damage to two tires upon landing at YLW," airport spokesperson Jessica Hewitt told Castanet news.

"The aircraft, with two people on board, landed safely at approximately 9:36 a.m."

Emergency crews responded as a precaution.

They inspected the runway and taxiway for any debris.

Hewitt says regular airport operations were not affected by the incident.
