House fire not suspicious

Colin Dacre

UPDATE 12:30 p.m.

The West Kelowna Fire Department has determined that this mornings fire in 2300 block of Butt Rd in the gated community of Sun Village is not suspicious.

Assistant Fire Chief, Chad Gartrell says crews responded to the blaze at 8:15 a.m. and they could see smoke and flames visible when they arrived.

The fire worked its way into the attic but was contained to a single unit before it could spread to nearby homes.

The lone occupant, who was home at the time, was alerted to the fire by the groundskeeper of the complex, through his quick actions no one was injured in this fire.  There were no pets in the home and the occupant is covered by insurance.
