Coyote hurler now a Ray

It's a historic day for the Okanagan College Coyotes baseball program.

Trevor Brigden, who just completed his third season with the Yotes, was taken in the 17th round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Tampa Bay Rays, Wednesday.

He's the first ever Coyote taken in the MLB draft.

Brigden, a Toronto native, went 4-0 with the Coyotes last season. He also played summer ball with the Kelowna Falcons in 2018, going 4-4 over the regular season and 1-0 in the playoffs, registering an overall ERA of 3.57.

The 23-year-old's fastball consistently hits 91 miles per hour.

Three other former, or current Falcons have also been selected in the draft.

Pitcher Niell Windeler went in the 19th round to Minnesota, right fielder Trent Tinglestad, who has rejoined the Falcons this season, was a  22nd round pick of the Seattle Mariners, while first baseman Dan Pruit went to Detroit in round 38.
