US warship in BC port

One of the U.S. Navy's newest warships steamed into Victoria, Tuesday.

The USS Anchorage is a modern amphibious landing ship, and is expected to remain docked in Esquimalt Harbour until Friday, CTV News reports.

The Anchorage was commissioned in 2013 and arrived in B.C. after conducting a disaster response exercise with local civil defence agencies off the Oregon coast on Monday.

Meanwhile, two Canadian warships left the port for Oregon on Tuesday.

HMCS Nanaimo and HMCS Edmonton left CFB Esquimalt to take part in Portland's Fleet Week celebrations.

The Canadian vessels will spend five days there, joining the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Navy in public ceremonies.
