Thieves won't leave

Alanna Kelly

Strangers lurking in the night and checking vehicles has become far too frequent for Quail Ridge residents and they are demanding more be done to stop the thefts.

Resident Brittney Halldorson says in just six months they have caught people creeping around their homes 10 times.

“No one likes people lurking around their house between 2 and 4, we’ve got kids, the neighbourhood has kids,” she said.

She says in the last two months, thefts have ramped up.

“They are out there every second night,” she said.

Items range from money, heaters off patios, a dirt-bike and fishing gear.

“Anything they can find in the vehicles,” said Halldorson.

Thieves canvas the area looking for unlocked vehicles and then take whatever is inside. Halldorson says people have been more vigilant to lock their doors but the thieves keep coming back.

“Everyone is installing cameras, you can see there is a couple of people but we can’t really identify them,” she said. “We don’t know what other steps to take.”

The most recent theft occurred just on Friday night and woke up homeowners.

Halldorson wants police to patrol the area more and hopes by making these videos public, the thieves will think twice.
