Dancing her way to the top

She is only 14 years old, but Kaia Kristian has caught the attention of the best-known entertainment company in the world.

The WL Seaton Secondary School student started dancing when she was just three years old and next month she will be dancing for Disney with some of the top people in the dance industry.

“It was really cool. It was one of my goals to receive a scholarship like this,” she said.

Kristian attended two competitions where she won two scholarships. One will take her to Disneyland while the other will take her New York.

She will be travelling to Disneyland with a friend in July where they will perform with and take classes from the best in the business.

Kristian also has plans to dance her way through life, and that is a good thing.

“I would eventually like to move into the commercial business in dance. After high school I would like to move to the States and start working and start choreographing and taking classes,” said Kristian.

And Kristian knows the importance of getting her name out there now to secure her future dreams.

“Starting right now is really important because to get your name out and being discovered, that's also what this scholarship is about. There are scouts and managers too are watching who can sign you,” said Kristian, adding the New York scholarship will also put the Vernon teen in front of scouts looking for the next big thing.
