A tagger hit the ByLaw Compliance office on 31st Avenue Thursday in what can best be described as a brazen move.

While the effort took chutzpah, the attempt at spelling would not get them out of the first round of an elementary school spelling bee.

Tagging is often hastily scribbled slang terms or nicknames to claim territory among the street population. Left uncontested, a city can quickly become overwhelmed by unwanted spray-painted lettering.

"Tagging and unsolicited graffiti is a criminal code offence and costs taxpayers thousands of dollars annually in clean-up costs and repairs," the City of Vernon states on its website. 

Castanet has covered this issue as recently as April 9 and there appears to have been an escalation since then.
