A tree commemorating the hard work of local government employees will be planted at the green space beside City Hall as part of celebrations taking place in communities around the province.
It's part of Local Government Awareness Week, and the tree will be planted by representatives from both the City of Penticton and the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen.
Members of the community are welcome to attend the ceremony May 23 at 3 p.m.
Funding for the tree and others around B.C. comes in part from the Local Government Management Association of British Columbia, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
