Internet sensation Grumpy Cat is dead.

The seven-year-old feline with its famously scowling face suffered complications from a urinary tract infection and "passed away peacefully" Tuesday "in the arms of her mommy," its Arizona owners posted on Twitter Friday morning.

“Besides being our baby and a cherished member of the family, Grumpy Cat has helped millions of people smile all around the world – even when times were tough,” the post stated.

the tweet has been shared more than 79,000 times and has almost 10,000 comments from fans and well-wishers. 

The cat, who's real name was Tardar Sauce, rose to internet fame with deadpan memes with quotes like: “I had fun once. It was awful.”

Grumpy Cat had more than two million followers on Instagram, 1.5 million on Twitter and more than 8.5 million fans on Facebook.
