Fruitcake's a real drag

The first ever Canadian ‘Drag Race’ contestant is coming to Kelowna.

Brooke Lynn Hytes was the first Canadian to compete for the title of “America’s next drag superstar" on RuPaul’s Drag Race. The winner of this season will be aired on the May 30 episode.

A trained ballet dancer, Brooke Lynn has wowed the judges on season 11 and will be performing in Kelowna as part of the Kelowna Pride Society's FruitCake series, July 4 at Sapphire nightclub.

She will be performing alongside local queens Sparkle, Freida Whales, Ella Lamoureux, Jenna Telz, Alexa Nerezza, Ginger Snapp and Sasha Zamolodchikova.

“We have a thriving drag scene, including some amazing local queens in Kelowna – and bringing stars such as Brooke Lynn to town helps raise the profile of the Kelowna scene and our performers," says Dustyn Baulkham, executive producer of Rebellious Unicorns.

Tickets for the 19+ event are $49 for general admission and $69 for a VIP meet and greet with photo opportunity.
