Prelim for alleged shooter

A man facing numerous charges in relation to a Feb. 8, shooting will face a preliminary hearing later this year.

Clayton Alan Williams, born in 1991, is facing charges of break and enter with intent to commit offence, discharge a firearm w/intent to wound/disfigure, discharge a firearm w/intent to wound/disfigure, unlawfully discharge a firearm, use firearm committing, etc. indictable offence, pointing a firearm and disguising face with intent to commit offence.

Dan McLaughlin, communications counsel with the BC Prosecution Service, said “all offences are alleged to have occurred on Feb. 8, 2019 at or near Coldstream.”

The preliminary inquiry is scheduled for December 9-11.

At the time of the incident, Const. Kelly Brett said police are investigating multiple scenes resulting from what is believed to be a targeted break and enter that turned violent overnight.

Just before 1 a.m., RCMP received a report of a break and enter in progress at a home on the 9800 block of Park Lane in Lavington. It was reported there were possible shots fired, resulting in one occupant of the home sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

About half an hour later, police swarmed the Village Green Hotel, where one man was reported with an apparent gunshot injury from which he did not survive.
