Grabbed jewelry and ran

RCMP in Penticton are seeking the public's help with a theft from a local jewelry store.

On May 12 at about 1 p.m., RCMP were called to Michael Hill inside Cherry Lane Mall. One male had requested to look at a number of items and, while they were unprotected, grabbed a handful and ran to the nearest mall exit.

Outside the mall, another person in a white Ford pickup truck with a license plate that did not match the vehicle was waiting.

Police are asking the public for any information about the event and to help them identify the male and female in the above and below photographs.

“This is a crime of opportunity and police are asking for any help in identifying the people involved, if you know who these people are please call the detachment or Crimestoppers. As a side note, it is believed that the male is also wanted for questioning by the Fashion Police," said staff sergeant Bob Vatamaniuck.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
