Tried to flee, got caught

RCMP in Kamloops have arrested a man from Falkland and a man from Enderby after they tried to flee from police.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie Thursday morning at 4:40 a.m., a Kamloops RCMP officer saw a vehicle driving erratically and speeding in the area of Highland Drive.

“The officer activated his emergency lights in an attempt to pull the vehicle over, but instead, the vehicle sped away,” said Shelkie. “The officer immediately pulled over to the side of the road and stopped. The suspect vehicle continued speeding on the frontage road near Oriole Drive when it hit a cement barrier.”

Police found one man in the vehicle and the second male was located nearby after running away.

Both were taken into custody without incident.

Although neither had visible injuries, both were transported to a local medical facility for assessment.

Both suspects are 32 years old.

One is from Enderby and had a warrant for his arrest for assault. The other suspect is from Falkland and was also known to police.

All investigational information will be forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service who will determine charges.

Kamloops RCMP are asking anyone who witnessed the vehicle collision to contact them at 250-828-3000.
