Charges laid in shooting

Charges have been laid in a Vancouver Island shooting incident that took place in Langford, Tuesday.

Justin Lemmen, 27, has been charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm in a motor vehicle, two counts of failing to comply with conditions set out in an undertaking, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, CTV News reports

He remains in police custody.

Shots were fired outside the Happy Valley Market Tuesday morning, and two vehicles fled, leading to one crashing a few minutes later on Veterans Memorial Parkway.

"Immediately our officers were on scene and able to apprehend and arrest the driver of that vehicle, who was the only occupant, and seize a firearm from that vehicle," West Shore RCMP Const. Nancy Saggar told CTV.

A Cadillac was later recovered in Colwood with a bullet hole in its rear driver's-side window. The driver has not been found.

Police believe the shooting was a targeted incident.
