Tracy Lutz-Noel had an unexpected guest over the Easter long weekend.
A young cougar was spotted near her home in the Stepping Stones subdivision on the north end of Vernon.
“This cougar chased my cat through the garden while I was weeding,” said Lutz-Noel. “My cat ran past me with a fat tail and I turned around to see what the commotion was and the cougar abandoned the chase and ran up a tree.”
The cougar climbed 15 feet up the tree and stayed for about 30 minutes before jumping down and running off.
There have been numerous cougar sightings in the North Okanagan this year.
