False alarm at courthouse

UPDATE: 3:45 p.m.

Kelowna Law Courts were evacuated after a fire alarm was pulled on Thursday.

Firefighters rushed to the building on Water Street just after 2:30 p.m. and police officers blocked the road.

Kelly Stephens, Kelowna Fire Department Platoon Capt., said the fire alarm was pulled after someone noticed steam coming from the roof.

After investigation, firefighters deemed the building safe and said it was just steam from an electrical room.

The Kelowna courthouse was evacuated for a brief time Thursday afternoon.

The fire alarm inside the building was pulled around 2:30 when someone thought he saw smoke inside the building.

It turned out to be steam.

Water Street in front of the courthouse was also blocked off for a short period of time.

The scene has been cleared and people have been allowed to return inside.
