Power has now been restored to more than 530 FortisBC customers in Rutland.

Power came back on shortly after 5:20 this afternoon.

UPDATE: 3:25 p.m.

It could be late this afternoon before power is restored to a portion of Rutland.

According to FortisBC, crews are working on the outage, and expect power to be restored shortly before 6 p.m.

The utility says 536 customers are without power.

ORIGINAL: 2:15 p.m.

A portion of Rutland is without power.

According to the FortisBC outage map, power is down for 536 customers in an area north of Rutland Road.

The affected area stretches from Rutland Road to El Carlo Road and Hardie Road to Highway 33.

FortisBC crews are heading to the scene.

There's no word yet on the cause, or when power may be restored.
