A cyclist was taken to hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a vehicle on Drought Hill in Peachland Thursday night.
And, police say the incident should serve as a reminder to cyclists of the importance of safety equipment.
"It appears ... the cyclist involved in this incident was not wearing a helmet and had no reflectors or lights displayed on his bike to increase his visibility," says RCMP Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey.
The 35-year-old Kelowna man was cycling south on Highway 97 about 11 p.m. when he was hit by a Chevrolet pickup heading in the same direction.
O'Donaghey said what could have been a deadly incident resulted only in leg injuries to the cyclist.
The driver of the Silverado, a Peachland woman, remained at the scene and co-operated with investigators.
Alcohol and drugs have been ruled out as contributing factors.
Witnesses are asked to call West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880.
