Earth Day grows to a week

Why have one day to celebrate the planet, when you can have a whole week.

The Regional District of North Okanagan will be celebrating Earth Day by stretching it into Earth Week and sending out environmentally friendly tips and information through their Waste Management e-newsletter from April 15-22.

Subscribers to the mailing list will be put in a draw, and one lucky person who signs up for the e-newsletter will win a new composter valued at $80.

The Earth Week e-newsletter topics will include:

  • Tips for Avoiding Single-Use Plastics
  • Adopt a Stream Program
  • Recycling Large Appliances Responsibly
  • Enjoying Nature Close to Home
  • Top 5 Gardening Mistakes
  • How to Avoid Food Waste
  • Composting

“The RDNO has many green initiatives, and one of our main goals it to provide information and resources to help people make small, impactful changes that can have long lasting benefits for the environment,” said Darren Murray, Environmental Coordinator with the RDNO.

Sign up for the Waste Management e-newsletter can be done online.

Everyone who has already subscribed to the e-newsletter will be included in the draw, along with all of the new sign-ups.
