Police officers swarmed a parking lot in downtown Kelowna on Tuesday morning.

Unmarked police cruisers parked on Lawrence Avenue and the police dog service and officers searched the parking lot at the corner of Lawrence and Ellis Street at 10:30 a.m.

Officers zeroed in on a bush, where they found an imitation firearm.

Police on scene said it was a pellet gun.

"A man was detained by police at the scene and a pellet rifle was seized. No threats were made and no shots fired," said Insp. Paul MacDougall.

No charges are pending according to police.
