Vandal spree across town

Three people have been arrested after multiple buildings were vandalized in Kelowna over the weekend.

RCMP had a busy weekend, responding to 49 calls for service in the downtown core from noon on Friday to Monday.

Insp. Paul MacDougall says the majority were in relation to property damage, causing a disturbance, suspicious activity and trespassing.

“Prompt reporting by citizens and business owners enabled the RCMP to identify and take into custody several persons in relation to ongoing criminality in the downtown core,” said MacDougall.

A 29-year-old man who was reportedly responsible for multiple acts of damage was located and arrested on outstanding warrants.

A 26-year-old man was involved in five separate incidents. He was arrested for causing a disturbance and held in custody.

One man was held in custody and faces additional charges of assault on a peace officer, uttering threats and escaping custody. The 39-year-old man was arrested after a report of property damage.

A worker fixing the glass at the downtown CIBC branch says 17 panes at three businesses were smashed.
