Vees alum signs NHL deal

Penticton Vees alumni defenceman Dante Fabbro has signed a three-year entry-level deal with the Nashville Predators.

Fabbro, who sent two seasons with the Vees in 2014-16, was drafted by the Predators in the first round 17th overall in the 2016 NHL entry draft.

During his time in Penticton he scored 18 goals and 82 assists in just 89 games, helping the Vees capture the Fred Page Cup in 2014-15. During the 2015 RBC Cup he was named the tournament’s top defenceman.

The following season he was named the top defenceman in the entire CJHL. He also represented Canada multiple times on the international stage.

Fabbro has spent the past three seasons at Boston University with the Terriers, during which time he won a silver and gold medal with Team Canada at the World Juniors Championships.

Fabbro is the second Vees alum to sign an NHL contract this season following Mat Robson who signed with the Minnesota Wild last week.

Should he play in an NHL game this season, he will become the 40th Vees alumni to appear in an NHL game.
