Kangaroos ready to cuddle

Madison Erhardt

No need to fly all the way to Australia – the Kangaroo farm in Lake Country is officially open for the season.

The farm opened a week later than normal, but it was worth the wait for a perfect sunny and mild day.

''The farm is all fully interactive, of course. Every animal here will take a treat, hug, pet, cuddle, play ... we do it all,'' owner Greg Wightman said.

There are currently 50 adult kangaroos and wallabies on the farm, and one joey.

''We have four species of kangaroo and wallaby right now.''

''We are very unique because all of our animals are hand raised and hand bred. They associate humans beings as part of the mob, being mobbing animals,'' Wightman added.

The farm will stay open from now until Thanksgiving.
