Want shows? Then show up

You want more local entertainment events at Kal Tire Place? Then start supporting them.

That's the message from the City of Vernon, as locals often gripe about Kelowna and Penticton landing all the big-ticket shows.

"In order for events to be successful and for promoters to continue choosing Vernon as a preferred event site, it is important for fans and those interested in an event or sport to buy tickets early, attend shows, tournaments, events and games. The support of ticket buyers and spectators is an important aspect of attracting events to town," the city says in a press release.

The city-owned venue recently hosted a successful Chamber of Commerce Spring Expo at the new Kal Tire Place North arena, and the city is looking to increase the number of events there.

The city notes several events coming up, as well as BCHL playoff action with the Vernon Vipers, which is underway now.

The FMX (Freestyle Motocross) World Tour is coming to Vernon June 2 as pro riders perform death-defying tricks and stunts.

All fans will receive pit passes with advance ticket purchases, which go on sale Monday at 9 a.m. Tickets are available at the Ticket Seller Box office, by phone at 250-549-7469, or visit www.ticketseller.ca.

The next four months will also bring the return of lacrosse, VSS, Seaton and Fulton Secondary graduations, the Okanagan Mascot games, car club events, Southern Interior Karting Association racing, and the Okanagan Military Tattoo.
