Bernd Klaila owns One Stop Automotive and he said the grenade is sitting on top of a large concrete block at a vacant lot near his business.

“At first I didn't know what it was,” said Klaila. “We went over and they (police) told us it was a hand grenade. We don't know how long it has been there.”

Klaila said police blocked off the road and are keeping people away from the area.

The grenade was found at 5 p.m.

Klaila was told they are waiting for the bomb disposal unit from the Lower Mainland to attend and handle the situation.
