Ella crane will close Ellis

The Ella highrise project will force a block of Ellis Street in downtown Kelowna to be closed for two days this week.

The crane that is currently aiding in the construction of the 20-storey, mixed-use building needs to be extended another 140 feet into the sky. As a result, Ellis between Lawrence and Bernard avenues will be closed between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“That will be the last move that we do to increase the height,” Mission Group project manager Rhonda Greggain said Monday afternoon.

“Fingers crossed everything goes perfectly, and then we can turn around and open it up as soon as possible. If we can get it up there and open it sooner, we will.”
