Sudden death of skier

A male skier went into cardiac arrest early Monday morning on the slopes of Revelstoke Mountain Resort and was pronounced dead hours later in hospital. 

On Monday February 18, just after 9:30 a.m. Revelstoke RCMP were notified by Revelstoke Mountain Resort Ski Patrol of a medical incident requiring police and search and rescue to help rescue a patient in cardiac arrest.

The injured skier was found unconscious underneath the Revelation Gondola.

RMR Ski Patrol were the first responders to the male skier and performed first aid. Emergency Medical Services took over care of the male, but after being transported to the hospital, the male was pronounced deceased.

The male was identified as a citizen of Denmark.

The Revelstoke RCMP have the lead in the investigation and have contacted the individual’s family. 

There is no foul play suspected in this tragic death and the investigation has been turned over to the BC Coroner Service.
