Alleged sex offender nabbed

A man wanted by Summerland police for historical sex crimes has been arrested out of province.

The B.C. Prosecution Service confirmed Ivan Glen Winchester, 42, was arrested outside B.C. and released on a promise to appear in Penticton court on Feb. 27.

Online court records show he has another appearance in Penticton scheduled for March 13, when the Crown will make an application for a prohibition order.

Winchester was charged in January with two counts of sexual interference of a person under 14, two counts of sexual interference of a person under 16 and sexual assault.

The crimes are alleged to have occurred between 2006 and 2008 in Summerland. Police say Winchester lived in the community from 2006 till 2010, although court records show he pleaded guilty to driving while prohibited in Summerland in 2012.
