Snow warning for coast

More snow is on the way for beleaguered motorists in the Lower Mainland.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement Monday morning, warning another two to five centimetres of the white stuff will hit the region Tuesday morning.

The statement says a new frontal system will cross the South Coast Tuesday morning.

"Snow will begin Tuesday morning and may catch the tail-end of the morning commute. Snow will likely become mixed with rain in the afternoon, especially near the water and over lower elevations," the statement reads.

"For areas further inland, including the Lower Fraser Valley, snow may persist Tuesday night. Total snowfall accumulations for western sections of Metro Vancouver will be in the 2 to 5 cm range, while the lower Fraser Valley could see between 5 and 10 cm.

Sunshine is expected to return Wednesday, with the next frontal system, bringing with it the potential for more wet snow and rain, expected Friday.
