Know before you go

Good news for drivers travelling this Family Day. The highway passes in B.C.’s Southern Interior are expected to be clear of any more snow on Monday.

Trevor Smith, meteorologist with Environment Canada says the road conditions look really good.

“We are in-between weather systems across the southern interior so we are not expecting any precipitation at all on Monday,” said Smith.

Instead, the weather forecast is calling for sunshine.

“We might just be looking at a little bit of fog on the Okanagan Connector near Brenda Mine… otherwise, conditions are looking pretty nice,” he said.

Temperatures will be warmer than last week, but still cool.

“We’ll be well below average for late February,” said Smith. “There is a weak system coming in on Tuesday.”

Five centimetres of snow could fall on the Okanagan Connector and on the Coquihalla Highway.

“The next major system looks like it will be Friday,” said Smith.

Drivers are reminded that even though weather conditions are expected to be good, people should still drive safely.
