A lengthy investigation by Vernon RCMP has pulled significant quantities of fentanyl and other drugs off the streets.
The three-month investigation targeted a group of drug traffickers believed to be responsible for supplying a significant quantity of drugs to the Vernon area.
Police arrested five people suspected of being involved in "dial a dope" trafficking, which led to the seizure of numerous street level packages of suspected fentanyl and cocaine, along with cash and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.
A previously reported arrest of two Vernon men on Dec. 14 resulted in the seizure of a large quantity drugs, restricted weapons, and money.
And on Jan. 25, a 65-year old man and 54-year old woman were arrested at their Kalamalka Road residence, resulting in the seizure of a significant quantity of cocaine, body armour and other items related to drug trafficking.
The same day, a 37-year old woman was arrested at her Pinantan Lake residence. Cocaine, methamphetamine, and large quantities of suspected fentanyl were seized.
"This was a very successful investigation targeting a group from the street level dial a dope dealer to the person we believe responsible for bringing drugs into the Vernon area," says Sgt David Evans.
The suspects have been released from custody while charges are considered.
