KF expanding in Ontario

Kelowna-based KF Aerospace is investing $30 million at John C. Munro International Airport in Hamilton, Ont.

The money will go towards expansion of the company’s aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at the airport. The main piece will be a 75,000-square-foot hangar that will be able to store wide-body aircraft, which KF expects will triple its business in the Hamilton marketplace.

“We’ve been operating in Hamilton for almost 25 years and are incredibly excited to be investing further in the community,” KF founder and CEO Barry Lapointe said in a press release. “This expansion will allow KF to bring international customers to Canada to showcase our staff’s exceptional maintenance skills.”

The expansion will also be used to give Mohawk College aircraft maintenance students more of a hands-on experience.

The new hangar should be operational this October, while the Mohawk College learning areas will be ready to go in August 2020.
