Warriors fall up north

After spending the better part of the last week on the road, the West Kelowna Warriors can at least enjoy some good old home cooking for a while.

Unfortunately, they were not able to enjoy a bump in the standings, dropping a 5-2 decision in Prince George Thursday.

It was sweet revenge for the Spruce Kings, who took advantage of a tired team the way the Warriors did with PG a few short weeks ago.

Ben Brar led the way for the home side. Ben Poisson and Jay Keranen also scored for the Spruce Kings.

Patrick Cozzi had four assists.

Lucas Cullen and Chase Dubois scored for the Warriors.

The Spruce Kings opened the scoring with the only goal of the first period.

Cullen tied it six minutes into the second, but three straight goals gave the Spruce Kings a 4-1 lead by the midway point of the third.

The Warriors cut the deficit with nine minutes to go, but were unable to get any closer.

Prince George outshot the Warriors 45-28, including 20-11 during the third period.

The Warriors have just four games left in the regular season, including the next three at home.

They host Vernon Saturday and Merritt Tuesday. Trail comes to Royal LePage Place a week Friday in the first half of a season-ending home and home.
