Flights cancelled at YLW

While snow has been falling hard across the Okanagan, similar conditions in other cities have been problematic for those flying in and out of Kelowna.

Arrivals and departures have been cancelled and delayed Tuesday morning, but Jessica Hewitt, communications advisor with YLW, says all of the issues are from other airports.

“It's not related to snow in Kelowna, there are similar storms happening all over Canada, and Seattle is also experiencing that,” Hewitt said.

As of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, two flights arriving from Vancouver have been cancelled, along with flights from Edmonton and Victoria.

Five other flights expected to arrive later in the morning are currently delayed.

Earlier this morning a 7:15 a.m. departure headed to Toronto was cancelled, as was a 7:20 a.m. flight headed to Victoria.

A third departing flight for Vancouver has been cancelled, while another five are delayed.

Hewitt says crews are currently clearing the runway at YLW, and they're deicing planes.

“It's business as usual for us,” she said. “We'll keep monitoring it in case the weather does change.”
