Carnival a big success

The 2019 Vernon Winter Carnival is barely in the books and officials are already planning for next year.

Vicki Proulx, carnival executive director, said the 59th annual carnival was a big success with people of all ages embracing the pirate theme.

“People loved the theme this year. Pirates was a big hit and really seemed to get the community involved,” said Proulx.

And while Sunday may have been the last day of carnival for this year, work has already started in the 60th anniversary event in 2020.

Proulx said officials are seeking suggestions for a theme for next year.

“With the 60th anniversary coming up we are really excited to get the suggestions from people about what they would want to see and we will announce the theme at the carnival awards ceremony on March 12 at the Schubert Centre,” said Proulx.

People can make suggestions the carnival Facebook page, Instagram, email, postal mail, Twitter, call the office at 250-545-2236 or stop by the carnival office.
