May the pork be with you

It’s time to unleash your inner glutton with the Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country’s Pig Out Festival.

Now entering its eighth year, the festival takes place on May 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Covert Farms Family Estate.

Not ignoring international Star Wars day (May the 4th be with you), the annual food and wine festival is embracing a galaxy far, far away.

The one-day, family-friendly festival plays host to a costume contest and “epic duels” held on Covert Farms’ famous giant bouncy pillow.

“We are ecstatic that our Pig Out Festival fell on May 4 this year — we have many serious movie fans in the region and cannot wait to create a lively, thematic atmosphere complete with delicious food and wine,” said Jennifer Busmann, executive director of the Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association.

Talented chefs from local restaurants including Platinum Bench Artisan Bakery, Watermark Beach Resort, Miradoro at Tinhorn Creek Vineyards and Oliver Eats. All 43 Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association members will be in attendance with twine pairings for pork-themed creations.

Tickets ($65) are available online and include entertainment from local musicians, a souvenir wine glass and lots of food and wine.
