Stuck on hike overnight

Two people spent the night on a mountain after becoming stuck during a hike.

North Shore Rescue posted a video on Facebook of the rescue in steep, icy terrain near Lions Bay.

One of the individuals tells CTV News that they were following the trails on Hat Mountain when they got stuck.

"We just got caught out by some fresh slide across the trail and couldn't reach the far side. And coming back was a bit dicier, so we decided to stay put and call for help," he said.

Rescue crews received the call at about 6 p.m. and Lions Bay Search and Rescue tried to locate them on Saturday.

Once daylight came on Sunday, the North Shore Rescue team went it.

Matthew Beer, one of the individuals stuck, said he is very grateful and says a massive thank you to the search and rescue teams.
